Hi there and welcome to my portfolio, my name is Ilse Brookes. Please enjoy having a look through my work, I have enjoyed creating it. I hope this is evident through this folio as you explore the breadth of disciplines and techniques that I have available in my skill base.
I have always been passionate about the art, craft and design worlds. My first degree with honours was in Fine Art at VCA/RMIT University Melbourne. I have worked with mediums such as copper plate etching, lithography, screen printing, oil painting, sculpture and photography. My second degree in Design Communication at Swinburne University Melbourne. This degree has given me so many skills that have inspired me to further my Design career.
I am also a keen illustrator and this skill has only added to my design work outcomes. I almost always begin a brief with mark-making and drawing to explore the different possibilities and directions that the work could go. I also enjoy jumping into the world of Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign to take the work further. I feel confident working in the Adobe suite.
I have also written and illustrated my first children's book 'Illy Pilly and Toppy Tat.' I have been working on a small online business side hustle that is now up and running called Illy Creative. This business has been a great way to advertise my book and accompanying children’s products and also a way for me to use all that I have learned and put it to good use.
